Tentickle Returns to AfrikaBurn

Cape Town, April 2014: For the eighth year in a row, Tentickle Stretch Tents will be pitching their unique tents at AfrikaBurn, one of South Africa’s largest festivals and the largest ‘burn’ outside of the United States of America.

AfrikaBurns draws its inspiration from the famous Burning Man festival held annually in the Nevada Desert, USA. AfrikaBurn follows the same guiding principles: Radical Inclusion, Decommodification, Radical Self-reliance, Radical Self-expression, Communal Effort, Civic Responsibility, Leaving No Trace, Immediacy and Gifting. All of these principles add up to a unique festival where nothing can be bought or sold, only traded or gifted and afterwards the desert returns to normal, with no trace of the festival.

AfrikaBurn is a regional burn festival and sees South African artists, musicians and festival goers descending on the Tankwa Karoo to create a temporary town called Tankwa Town. This town is a vibrant festival of art, music and culture and is gaining in popularity every year.

The festival is already famous for its artworks, mutant cars and mechanical inventions. Every year the vehicles at AfrikaBurns get bigger and more weird and wacky as people develop and build more moving artworks. The pinnacle of the week long festival is the burning of the massive central artwork which represents that festival. The burning of the central artwork has become one of the most famous images and one that has become synonymous with the festival.

Tentickle has supported AfrikaBurn since its first festival in 2007 and will be providing their famous stretch tents and expertise at “Camp Anvil.”

Tentickle Tents International is based in Cape Town, South Africa and has a network of stretch tent distributors around the globe, including Europe, Africa, Australasia and South America.
